Respiration:
The process of breathing in and breathing out of air is called respiration.
The Respiratory System:
The organs which take part in respiration form the respiratory system. It consists of the nose, the windpipe and the lungs.
The step wise process of Respiration:
1. We breathe in air through the nose.
2. The dust particles in the air are filtered out by the tiny hairs inside the nose.
3. The dust free air enters the lungs through the trachea or windpipe. The oxygen from air is taken by the blood and carbon dioxide is given out.
4. Oxygen helps to break down the food absorbed by the body.
