Styles of houses according to the climatic
conditions.
1. Houses in polar
regions- In these regions, Eskimos build Igloos which are dome
shaped shelters made out of blocks of ice.
2. Houses in cold regions-
In these regions, the walls and basement of the houses will be insulated to
keep them warm.
3. Houses in hot regions-
Houses in these regions have flat, thick mud roofs to help in rainwater
harvesting. The houses are built of bricks, cement and concrete.
4. Houses in regions of
heavy rainfall- Houses in these regions are built on stilts so as to
protect the house from floods. They also have sloping roofs to let the
rainwater slide off.
5. Houses in regions
prone to cyclone- In these regions, houses have circular walls and
pyramidal roofs to protect the structure from heavy storms.
6. Houses in regions
prone to earthquake- Here, the houses are mostly made of wood and
bricks. The walls are made in small sections to make the house earthquake
resistant.
