NO GIFTS TO TEACHERS PLEASE

Dear Parents,

With great concern and shock, we have noted that a few parents have again started the practice of giving expensive gifts to teachers. A few years back when we noticed this activity, it was advised to parents to stop this practice. However it is astounding to note that a few parents are continuing the same, despite all our measures.

Teachers are human beings, and they need proper and timely appreciation. Appreciating teachers is one of the most welcome activities for the school from the parents’ end. But we have requested parents that appreciation should be limited in the form of a THANKING LETTER or FLOWERS or CARDS or CHOCOLATES only. The value of the same should not be more than RO10/- (Ten riyals only)in any case.

We have noticed that recently parents have gifted teachers with Gold rings, Gold pendants, costly watches, costly perfumes, etc. which are in the range of RO100 – RO120/- Such acts only create problems for other children in the school as teachers (quite naturally being human) may show partiality towards these children and would start expecting such gifts from other parents, etc. which in turn would blemish your kids only.

When school is framing a policy, it is to help our students only so that they need to be in an environment where they need to learn and feel oneness, equality, fairness, impartiality, etc. and become a good citizen. Please help us in this process. Hence humbly requesting all parents not to develop this GIFT culture and also advising them if they wish to appreciate a teacher, please do so through a thanking letter, or a bunch of flowers or with few chocolates. Even your wish of thanks in person would mean a lot for a professional teacher. PLEASE COOPERATE WITH US.
