Q. Explain the process of water purification.
Ans. There are many ways of water purification. Some are as follows:-
1.     Boiling – this is the simplest way to purify water. Boiling for at least ten minutes will kill the germs in it.
2.     Sedimentation – Water is allowed to stand still in big containers, without being touched for a few hours. All the mud and other sediments will settle down at the bottom of the container. The water is separated gently without disturbing the sediments. This process of separating impurities from water is called sedimentation.
3.     Filtration – This is the process of separating solids from liquids by pouring the content through a medium.
4.     Chlorination – it is the process of adding chlorine to water for purifying it to make it fit for drinking.
