Homework for 4 B on 19/03/2017.

English

Learn the lesson ‘World of water’ for an oral review on 21-03-17.

Science

Write the following content given below in your science note book. Also draw diagrams for the same as shown in class. Submit the same on Tuesday, 21/3/17.

Study the underlined words for a dictation on the following day,(20/3/17)

Transpiration- The process of evaporation from plants is called transpiration.

Precipitation- When the water in the clouds gets too heavy, the water falls  back to the earth in the form of rain, snow or hail.

Water pollution is when waste, chemicals, or other particles cause a body of water (i.e. rivers, oceans, lakes) to become harmful to the fish, animals and humans that need water to survive.

There are two causes of water pollution:
1.   Natural causes of water pollution-like volcanoes, algae blooms, animal waste, and silt from storms and floods
2.   Human causes of water pollution-sewage, pesticides and fertilizers from farms, waste water and chemicals from factories, silt from construction sites, and littering.

Q. What is Biosphere?

Ans. The Biosphere is the narrow zone where we find land, water and air together, which contains all forms of life.

Q. What is Hydrosphere?

Ans. The large area of earth that is covered by water in all its forms ( ice, water and water vapour) is called Hydrosphere.

Q. What are the different layers of atmosphere?

Ans. The atmosphere is made up of 5 layers. They are:-
1.     Troposphere - The troposphere is the layer closest to the Earth. It is this layer that contains most of the water vapour.
2.     Stratosphere - The stratosphere is the second layer of air above the Earth’s surface. It is here that we find the ozone layer.
3.     Mesosphere - Beyond the stratosphere the air is very thin and cold. This area is known as the mesosphere.
4.     Thermosphere - The thermosphere is the fourth layer in the atmosphere. Space shuttles fly in this area.
5.     Exosphere - The exosphere is a layer where the atmosphere merges into space. Satellites are stationed in this area.
